WILMINGTON, N.C. – A day after clinching the Carolina League’s Northern Division championship for the second time this year, the Potomac Nationals were hammered by Wilmington, 14-1.
Hassam Pena (2-2) took the loss for Potomac. Pena allowed seven runs, however, only three were earned.
Pat Nichols had two of the Nationals six hits, while Daniel Lyons, Matt Rogelstad, Trevor Lawhorn and Francisco Plasencia each singled for Potomac.
Lawhorn also pitched an inning, allowing one hits, with one walk and a pair of strikeouts.
Mario Santiago (8-8) took the win for the Blue Rocks.
Wilmington’s big innings came in the second and sixth by scoring five and seven runs, respectively.
