The Safeway at the Market at Opitz Crossing in Woodbridge will close Jan. 11, and a PriceRite discount grocery store will take its place.

Safeway corporate spokesman Craig Muckle said the shopping center’s property manager, Regency Centers, terminated Safeway’s lease in November.

And that's not counting the numerous mouse infestations! All in the bakery.. Running across the bagel/roll case.

I was picking up an arrangement and had to point out to the flower girl the mouse of a recently tripped trap. It was crawling...dragging blood everywhere. It took me a long time to walk back behind the door to check and see if the florist was in after that.

I am surprised that Cheshire is going out before Tacketts Mill. It's one of the newer stores even after all the remodels. Tacketts Mill only had a 3 departments that were pleasant when someone was there. The guys in the meat dept were always helpful and nice when I needed a special order. The tall guy from produce was always lending a helping hand on the cash register. Which is what I think led to the downfall of having rotten food on display. They made him work the register every time I shopped there. And they switched out the girl from the flower department. Chunky brunette always had my flowers looking nice when I called ahead. Now they have a blond in there and she doesn't have anything appealing, or is around when I want something put together.

I agree with the previous commentors.. the Carol woman was surly. And the elderly balding german guy was slow moving and a perve. He made me uncomfortable touching and cupping my hand. Give me my milk, take my money and leave me alone... Only reason why I had to go to his line is bc everyone else tried to avoid him and he'd be standing around... waiting... *shudders*

If you care less, as you state in an earlier post why do you keep responding? Also why are your posts so negative? You must live a sad lonely venom filled life.

She's actually a nice lady who has worked at Safeway for a long time. She does have a personality, which used to be a good thing back in the day. Now, it seems everybody takes most things including themselves too seriously.

Time to really consider moving out of this county - it seems to be catering only to low income households. Not that they shouldn't have places to shop, but all we have here is this discount store and that discount store.....SMH

OMG, let's keep putting in discount stores in the eastern part of PWC, cause for sure there no people who live here with any money to spend. Why not put in a Whole Foods or a Trader Joes, or are they too trendy for PWC???

Revamping of Eastern PWC is never going to happen as long as Principi is our Supervisor. Keeping it crappy is exactly what keeps him in office!

I could care less, I prefer to shop at real grocery markets that are clean and friendly. I'll keep doing my business with Wegmans. Safeway and Giant are for the ghettos.

I think I dealt with that twit. I know one thing was for sure: That was the first and last time I went to that Safeway.

That Safeway should've been closed a long time ago. Wegmans is right around the corner from it and Wegmans is less expensive, cleaner, has a better selection in every department, and the employees are far more friendly and helpful.

Once again, they leave the eastern part of wdbg with very little choices of shopping for groceries. First they closed the Giants now the Safeway stores. Now we have to use our pricey gas fuel to drive over to dale city to do our shopping at Giant and Safeway and deal with the traffic on Dale Blvd and Minnieville. Ughhhhh! Give us a break.....PWC when is the revamping of Eastern PWC going to happen???????

So the new owners bought the shopping center and then kicked out Safeway? I wonder what plans they have for the shopping center then?

The safeway at Tackett's Mill should be burned down. However my favorite cashier Corel should be promoted to head cashier of all Safeway stores. "Oh My Fingers Hurt!" "What you want to sign up for a Safeway Card? Its Sunday for Christ sakes!" " I can't lift that 12 pack of toilet paper! You pick it up! Hurry up I ain't got all day"
