A Manassas man died following a two-vehicle wreck in Springfield on Thursday, according to Fairfax police.

James Jones, 73, died at an area hospital shortly after the wreck, a news release noted.

Jones was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger while traveling south in the 7700 block of Loisdale Road around 12:30 p.m. when his vehicle hit a jersey wall and travelled into the northbound lanes. The vehicle collided with an oncoming car driven by a 66-year-old Lorton woman.

The other driver was taken to an area hospital for injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Detectives continue to investigate the events of the crash, including attempts to determine if Jones suffered a medical emergency before the wreck.
