Prince William police K-9 Audie is calling it quits. After nearly four years of protecting and serving, the pooch, originally from Slovakia, is retiring.
Named for WWII hero Audie Murphy, this police K-9 has earned his own accolades.
Since joining the force in 2009, Audie placed second in Obedience (Novice Class) and third in Search (Novice Class) at the 2010 USPCA Field Trials. He earned a perfect score at USPCA Tracking Trials in 2012.
Audie and handler FSGT Greg Pass tracked a carjacking suspect near Manassas in December 2012 which led to officers catching the teen. The team was recognized with a letter of commendation from Acting Chief Barry Barnard.
"Job well done, Audie," department officials posted on their Facebook page. " We will miss you!"
