On Jan. 8, 2011, Northern Virginia became the laughingstock of the nation when 52 cars wrecked into one big pile on Interstate 95 south near Dale City during a brief snow squall that left barely an inch on the ground.

“Proof Virginians can’t drive” read the headline on the website Fark, followed by hundreds of comments agreeing that we, indeed, are terrible drivers.

Drivers in NOVA are the most narcissistic, myopic drivers I have ever encountered. They have great reflexes and the potential to be considered among the best drivers in the world if they were not so selfish, distracted and driving on autopilot most of the time. [scared]

“We’re almost on the freeze line. Up north in the snowbelt, once it snows, it doesn’t melt and refreeze. We have things folks driving in the northern climates don’t have, like black ice.” this just isnt true I live in Nh now and we have black ice up here alotand as far as melt and refreeze thats crazy too we have moderate days temps that melt snow just not as often as down south. people drive just as messed up here as they do there
