Encore Learning will present a lecture on “The Power of Books in Translation” on Monday, June 17 at 3 p.m. at Central Library.

Presenters Katherine Young and Rich Kauzlarich will tell the story of Akram Aylisli, a novelist and playwright currently under de-facto house arrest in his home country of Azerbaijan for speaking out about state repression and ethnic cleansing.

Young is an award-winning translator and former poet laureat of Arlington. Kauzlarich is a former ambassador to Azerbaijan.
