Three-time all-district pick and all-state his senior season … Woodbridge retired his jersey No. 18 … played at Florida, where he was all-SEC his senior season and a second-team pick his sophomore and junior seasons … also a second-team all-American his senior season … third-round pick by Denver in the 1984 NFL Draft … played four seasons with the Broncos and was a member of two Super Bowl teams … currently Hylton High School’s head football coach.

Jeff Nixon

Gar-Field, 1975

Two-year starter at free safety in high school who recorded 11 interceptions his junior season … was honorable mention all-state and all-Commonwealth District senior season … at Richmond, he was a consensus all-American as a senior and holds the school record for single-season (eight) and career (23) interceptions … a member of Richmond’s Athletic Hall of Fame … fourth-round NFL draft pick by Buffalo in 1979 … played four seasons with the Bills before injuries ended his career early … is the Youth Service Director for the Buffalo Employment and Training Center.

Abdul Kanneh

Potomac, 2008

Two-time all-state selection and regional defensive player of the year his senior season … in two years as a starter he totaled 246 tackles and 12 interceptions … all-American at Division II New Mexico Highlands … currently with the CFL’s Ottawa Redblacks.

All-state his senior season … four-year starter at Richmond, where he was either first, second or third-team all-conference each season … was second-team all-American his senior season in college … spent six seasons in the CFL … currently coaches the wide receivers at William & Mary.

Ahmad Brooks

USA Today National Defensive Player of the Year and consensus high-school all-American after totaling 207 tackles and 34 tackles for loss senior season … missed most of his junior year due to a broken foot, but as a sophomore totaled 205 tackles …all-American at the University of Virginia … third-round pick by Cincinnati in the 2006 NFL Supplemental Draft … currently a starting linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers.

Elmer Holmes

Osbourn, 1999

One of only two Virginia high school football players to earn all-state honors all four seasons … averaged 18.3 tackles a game in four seasons … in last three prep seasons, totaled 529 tackles and 23 sacks … first freshman in school’s 37-year history to start on Osbourn’s varsity … signed with Marshall University, where he spent a year before playing another year at Montgomery-Rockville Junior College (Md.) … lives in Manassas and owns a landscaping business.

E.J. Levenberry

Hylton, 2013

Two-time all-state selection who was the regional defensive player of the year his junior season … In two years with Bulldogs, he totaled 323 tackles and 57 tackles for loss … currently playing at defending national champion Florida State, where as a true freshman last season he finished ninth on the team with 39 tackles.

Potomac, 1989

Parade All-American who as a senior totaled 164 tackles and 16 sacks … four-year starter at the University of North Carolina, where he was either first or second-team all-conference his final three seasons … spent one season with the New York Giants after being selected by them in the fifth round of the 1993 NFL Draft … currently coaches the linebackers at the University of Tennessee.

Four-year starter at tackle in high school, where he was all-state his senior season … four-year starter at James Madison University … became the school’s first all-American in 1977 and is a member of JMU’s Athletic Hall of Fame … ranks third in JMU’s history with 28 career sacks and fifth with 438 career tackles … lives in Stafford and works for the FBI at the Quantico Marine Corps Base.
