STATE GYMNASTICS: The Liberty District and 6D North Region champion Washington-Lee Generals finished fourth in the Virginia High School League’s girls 6 state gymnastics tournament on Feb. 15.
From their opening event, the host Washington-Lee Generals got off to a strong start and kept going en route to winning the Jan. 31 Liberty District girls gymnastics championship meet.
Led by all-around champion Gabby Spranger (35.7) and runner-up Sophie Gamboa (35.3), the Wakefield Warriors won the National District girls gymnastics championships with a 138.65 team score.
