The blog site Arlington Yupette – where right-thinking Arlington-Amurricans get most of their local news – had an item up at the start of the week that Audrey Clement was considering a run for School Board in 2018.

It’d be her second bid for that post, and she’s run either six or seven times for County Board, as well. Just about every time, she’s either garnered (if she was the lone non-Democrat on the ball) or shared (if there were more than one) the roughly 30 percent of votes cast against the dominant political party in A-town.

I say this as one who likes Clement and thinks she brings valuable points of view to the community conversation: It’s time for her to stop running for office.

In fact, I – or rather than Sun Gazette editorial page (not always one in the same) – suggested that two years ago, but it didn’t stop her from additional bids for office. Not sure this will, either.

But really, it’s time to stop. She isn’t going to win, and to make a run after run after run after run, without building a base of support outside those voters who want to send a message to Democrats, is just not the way to influence the public discourse.

Ah, well. It’s a free country, and Clement is adept at fulfilling the requirements for ballot access, so if she wants to run, she’s going to run. But that doesn’t mean we have to give it prominent coverage.

Two, Two, Two Options for Facebook Users

It’s a long story – stories involving us usually are – but last September, our Facebook presence moved over from SunGazetteNews to the broader InsideNoVa site.

But now, with the company being split up (an amicable separation, for those who are wondering), we have the chance to not only keep our coverage flowing on InsideNoVa, but bring back SunGazetteNews with fresh daily coverage.

So, if you haven’t gone to our SunGazetteNews Facebook site lately (or ever), drop on by, become a follower and find access to our fresh coverage. And keep up with InsideNoVa, too, as it has the most broad coverage of the regional news.

Look at the progress Arlington's Progressives aka Limo Liberals have made in only 5 years -- from welfare for the wealthy Signature Theater to welfare for the Rockefellers who control WETA.

Audrey Clement

Regarding my prospective candidacy, Scott McCaffrey says "I say this as one who likes Clement and thinks she brings valuable points of view to the community conversation: It’s time for her to stop running for office." From this I infer that people with valuable points of view should stay out of politics. Maybe that's why we have what we have in the White House.

Arlington Yupette is a blog by and for Independents who are fed up with the County being ruined by a coalition of Limousine Liberals and Country Club Republicans all out to get rich from various expensive gimmes provided by taxpayers. Latest welfare-for-the-wealthy recipients will be the Limo Libs who own and operate WETA.

Not surprising. Just more of the "McCaffrey Rule" first proposed by Scott McCaffrey when he served on the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's Executive Committee. When the Chamber was deciding what to do about the County's soaring commercial office vacancy rate Scott suggested that nothing be done because sooner or later the problem would resolve itself. Subsequently the McCaffrey Rule was applied to address many other problems that exist in Arlington County ranging from Metrorail to renewable energy.

If the local media investigated just the massive rip-off of APS by non-residents who moved out of the County, maintain an Arlington address, and continue to send their kids to Arlington public schools there would be at least one non-Democrat on the School Board right now.

Time for $ara$ota $cott McCaffrey to retire to the family compound in beautiful upscale Sarasota-Bradenton. He can shill for the Chamber of Commerce and Democratic Party there. In the event $cott has forgotten Independent candidates received 1/3 of the total vote for County board last year, the year before, and the year before that. Major reason we're stuck with corrupt one-party government is the local media which trade silence for ad revenue.

"..really, it’s time to stop. She isn’t going to win, and to make a run after run after run after run, without building a base of support outside those voters who want to send a message to Democrats, is just not the way to influence the public discourse.." I don't think this is right. I am grateful for Ms Clement's runs, I think they are a public service. She raises valuable issues, and once they are out there, our more likely-to-win candidates need to respond. I think you are right that she won't win, but that doesn't mean she doesn't improve Arlington's Agora.
Then again, I am a Harold Stassen fan, too.
