Sam Wolbert

Sam Wolbert serves as President and CEO of the Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA).  Founded in 1944, AWLA provides animal adoption and community programs to the Northern Virginia and D.C. metropolitan area, as well as animal rescue and control services within Arlington County.  In his role as President and CEO, Sam is tasked with ensuring the organization’s fiscal health and strategic direction. Sam started at AWLA in September 2017 and has since grown the organization through more adoptions and an increased emphasis on community programs.   

Apart from his work with AWLA, Sam also sits on the Board of the Fairlington Citizens Association and is a graduate of Leadership Arlington’s Signature Program Class of 2019.  Sam has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Sam is a proud Michigander and shares his home with a dog and two cats.
