A car drove into Harold and Cathy's Dumfries Cafe on Jan. 3. A Facebook video by town Mayor Derrick Wood showed severe damage to the building. No one was injured.

Harold and Cathy's Dumfries Cafe will be closed for repairs after a car drove into the popular eatery on Thursday.

No one was injured, but the small brick building on Fraley Boulevard sustained serious damage.

In a Facebook video, Dumfries Mayor Derrick Wood showed crews working to clean up the damage and said the fire department had shored up the building to make sure it was stable. Wood said it appeared the driver thought they were in reverse but instead crashed into the restaurant.

The owners thanked the community for support and well wishes.

"We are going to be CLOSED for a couple of days to fix the repairs to the building. We will keep you posted on the progress of the repairs!!" the restaurant posted on Facebook.
