The Fairfax County police dive team recovered a body from a Chantilly pond Wednesday afternoon.
Police were called to the 3900 block of Centerview Drive late Wednesday afternoon for a report of a possible body in the water. Police later recovered the body, but haven't said if it is a man or woman pending notification of relatives.
Officials did say the death doesn't appear to be suspicious.
The case is one of several in the area involving bodies found in water.
On May 16, a woman’s body was found in a pond behind an apartment building in the 6300 block of Ridge Pond Road in Centreville. Police identified the woman as Masoumeh Kord, 43, of Fairfax. Detectives are still awaiting a ruling from the state medical examiner’s office but said her death does not appear to be suspicious or involve foul play.
That discovery came a little more than two weeks after the body of 36-year-old Lizeth Lopez was found in a drainage ditch in Lake Ridge on April 29. Prince William County police have ruled that case a homicide, but have not made any arrests.
Prince William police Sgt. Jonathan Perok said Lopez’s death is not related to the March 29 discovery of 23-year-old Rose Marie Ditoro in a drainage pond outside Manassas. Her death was not ruled a homicide.
