Catherine Maria Cata spent six weeks in Moscow studying ballet and Russian.

Catherine Maria Cata, a student at Classical Ballet of Fredericksburg, was awarded a U.S. Department of State NSLI-Y Russian Language and Culture Full Scholarship six-week summer program to Moscow, Russia. The Russian American Foundation scholarship included: travel expenses, full room and board, Russian language instruction and immersion program, ballet training with teachers of Moscow’s Bolshoi Ballet Academy and more.

The program was for three weeks in New York City for the Bolshoi Ballet Summer Intensive, then six weeks in Moscow at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, also known at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy.

Catherine is a rising senior at Colonial Forge High School. In addition to ballet training, she is the president of Colonial forge Model United Nations, a senior class officer and a member of the National Honor Society. She also represented the school at Virginia Girls State the past summer.
