Boy Scouts reach Eagle status

David Wein-Kandil, Andrew Schweser, Brian Claeys, Nicholas Goryachev, Spencer Cobb, Ross Kocher and Callan Rogers of Boy Scout Troop 167 recently advanced to Eagle Scout status.

Seven members of Boy Scout Troop 167, sponsored by Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, advanced to Eagle rank during a Court of Honor ceremony held March 1 at the church.

They included David Wein-Kandil, a senior at H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program; Andrew Schweser, a senior at Wakefield High School; Brian Claeys, a junior at Gonzaga College High School; Nicholas Goryachev, a junior at Yorktown High School; Spencer Cobb, a senior at Yorktown High School; Ross Kocher, a junior at Yorktown High School; and Callan Rogers, a senior at H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program.

Their Eagle Scout projects provided service to a host of local organizations, including Central Library, Camp Highroad, Gulf Branch Nature Center, Long Branch Nature Center, Ball Family Cemetery, Arlington Food Assistance Center and the Bluemont Frisbee golf course.

Claeys, Goryachev, Kocher and Schweser also are members of Scouting’s Order of the Arrow.
