The Arlington Sun Gazette has endorsed incumbent Theo Stamos in the June 11 primary for commonwealth’s attorney in Arlington and Falls Church.

While acknowledging that critics have made some valid points about the operation of the office, the newspaper said Stamos has earned four more years.

Stamos “is the latest in a long line of commonwealth’s attorneys in Arlington – Helen Fahey and Richard Trodden among them – whose guiding principle has been justice for all as their highest priority,” the newspaper said in its endorsement.

Stamos is being challenged by Parisa Tafti. “It is a good thing our community writ large is having the current conversation about the appropriate role of the commonwealth’s attorney,” the newspaper’s editorial said of the challenge.
