Dreamliner 3

A contingent from the Arlington Chamber of Commerce had the opportunity to tour the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner during a stop in May 2012 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

Members of the Arlington delegation to the General Assembly have offered a “thanks!” to Boeing for its presence in the commonwealth and a “happy birthday!” as the aerospace firm prepares to celebrate its centennial.

A resolution patroned by Del. Patrick Hope (D-47th) and co-sponsored by the other six members of the Arlington delegation lauds Boeing for its “ongoing legacy of excellence in the aerospace field and many contributions to the commonwealth.”

The resolution singles out for recognition Boeing’s regional headquarters, which opened last year in Crystal City. Statewide, the company employs more than 2,000 people.

Boeing traces its roots to its founding by William Boeing in 1916, and has grown to a $90-billion-a-year firm that ranked 27th on the 2015 Fortune 500 list. The firm will celebrate the centennial on July 15.
