The Arlington Community Foundation’s board of trustees has approved grant awards totaling $164,515 to 43 nonprofit organizations and schools in its latest funding round.
The awards bring the total amount distributed by the foundation in 2012 to more than $720,000.
Community Enhancement Grants from $1,000 to $6,000 provide support for either general operating expenses or specific projects. Recipients include AHC Inc., the Arlington Arts Center, Arlington Food Assistance Center, Arlington Free Clinic, Arlington Pediatric Center, Arlingtonians Meeting Emergency Needs, Best Buddies Virginia, Bowen McCauley Dance, CARE Inc., CrisisLink, Davis Memorial Goodwill Industries, Edu-Futuro, Encore Stage & Studio, Friends of Guest House, Greenbrier Learning Center, Just Neighbors, Literacy Council of Northern Virginia, Phoenix Bikes, SCAN of Northern Virginia, Shirlington Employment and Education Center, Signature Theatre and Teatro de la Luna.
Looking Toward Tomorrow grants of $2,500 to $10,000, designed to provide support for innovative programs addressing homelessness, were provided to the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless, Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network, Borromeo Housing, Doorways for Women and Families and Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Arlington Education Fund grants of $805 to $1,500 were provided to the Arlington Philharmonic Association, Child and Family Network Centers, Gulf Branch Nature Center, Kenmore Middle School, Long Branch Elementary School, Stratford Program and Swanson Middle School.
The Donor-Advised Charitable Funds awarded grants to an additional 10 organizations through the foundation.
