Arlington Community Federal Credit Union recently presented Missy Snelling with its “People Helping People” Award, for her volunteer efforts in support of the Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN).

Snelling took the lead in community and press outreach after A-SPAN received a five-year contract to operate the county government’s emergency winter shelter, and used her public-relations skills to assist the organization in its efforts to win a $1 million prize.

Snelling also is a frequent volunteer at the shelter, greeting clients, serving dinner and handing out supplies.

“Her contributions to A-SPAN and her selfless dedication to the clients we serve prove that Missy Snelling fully embodies the spirit of ‘people helping people,’” said Sara Morse, A-SPAN’s volunteer coordinator.

This is the fourth year the credit union has presented the award. Nominations for the 2011 award will open next spring.
