A one-month “pop up” library is coming to the Ballston Quarter mall.
County Board members on June 15 are slated to approve an agreement with the mall’s owner for use of about 900 square feet of vacant retail space to provide an “innovative, non-traditional place in which to interact with library materials.”
The lease, which comes at no cost to the county government, will run from July 1 to Aug. 2. A limited amount of materials will be available for check-out, but patrons also will be directed to Central Library, a few blocks away, for more extensive offerings.
The library space will be open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Ballston Quarter opened last fall after a major refurbishment to what had been Ballston Common Mall and, before that, Parkington.
