The 2018 Arlington School Board race is likely to be a rerun of 2014.
Audrey Clement and incumbent Barbara Kanninen have qualified for ballot access, county elections chief Linda Lindberg told the Sun Gazette, setting up a reprise of their campaign from four years ago.
In that race, Kanninen – who had the endorsement of the Arlington County Democratic Committee – garnered 66 percent of the vote to 33 percent for Clement.
It’s still possible for additional candidates to qualify for the School Board ballot; the deadline in June.
Clement is a perennial candidate, although every run she previously has made except for the 2014 race has been for County Board. Her vote percentages have ranged from less than 10 percent to more than 30 percent, depending on the year and how many candidates were on the ballot.
