The Virginia state government distributed $15.6 million in sales-tax receipts to the Fairfax County government in October, an increase of 4.3 percent from a year before, according to new figures from the Fairfax County Department of Management and Budget.

The funds represent retail sales made in August.

For the fiscal year to date, sales-tax receipts distributed by the state government to the county government are up 2.7 percent from a year before.
