News of business and economic development across Fairfax County this week:
SALES-TAX RECEIPTS UP IN FAIRFAX: Sales-tax receipts distributed by the state government to the Fairfax County government, for retail purchases made in December, totaled $18.4 million, an increase of 7.3 percent over February 2015, according to figures compiled by the Fairfax County Department of Management and Budget.
For the first seven months of Fairfax County’s fiscal year, sales-tax receipts are up 3.5 percent, county officials said.
N.VA. CHAMBER NAMES FINALISTS IN INNOVATION AWARDS: The Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce has named finalists for its second annual Greater Washington Innovation Awards.
Winners will be announced at a gala to be held April 21 at the Hyatt Regency Reston.

The awards ceremony also will honor Steve Case as 2016 Lifetime Innovator and Tobin Moore and Adam Vitarello, co-founders of Optoro, as Emerging Innovators of the Year.
