Detectives in Loudoun and Leesburg are investigating the origins of Ku Klux Klan recruitment flyers found by residents over the weekend.
Leesburg Police responded to reports of KKK material located in a plastic baggies at the bottom of driveways within the town limits on Saturday night, said Kraig Troxell, spokesperson for Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were notified Sunday morning that KKK propaganda flyers, two containing a CD, were located in driveways in the 39000 block of Catoctin Ridge Street in Paeonian Springs.
An hour later, more flyers were found on various streets of the New Town Meadows community in Lovettsville. The flyers were located alongside driveways, near mailboxes and on sidewalks in the community, Troxell said.
All of the flyers were placed in plastic bags containing birdseed and there is no indication any of the households that received the flyers were targeted. Some flyers were similar to incidents reported over the weekend of Jan. 13-15.
Anyone with any information regarding these cases or with possible surveillance video, are asked to contact Detective Joseph Hacay at 703-777-0475. You may also submit a tip through the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office app, available in the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
