A Dominion High School student is in custody after he allegedly assaulted a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office school resource officer Thursday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m. the student allegedly assaulted a school staff member when the person was trying to escort the student to the office from the school cafeteria, LCSO spokesperson Kraig Troxell said.
"At this time, the deputy assigned to the school approached the student and attempted to calm him down," he said. "The student then turned and assaulted the deputy who defended himself while taking the student into custody."
The deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The student refused medical treatment and was transported to the Loudoun Juvenile Detention Center. Charges are pending.
