Fairfax County police cited an Oakton woman Nov. 23 after she reportedly fled following a traffic stop.

The incident began at 9:51 p.m. after an officer saw the motorist disregard a stop sign at Sutton and County Creek roads in Oakton. The officer turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights and stopped the motorist, who gave the officer her license.

While the officer was walking back to his police cruiser, the motorist then pulled away and began driving south on Sutton Road, police said. The officer activated his vehicle’s full emergency equipment (including siren and lights) and followed the motorist to a nearby apartment complex, where the driver pulled into a spot and subsequently was detained by police.

Police cited Alla Nikitina, 57, of Oakton, for disregarding a stop sign and misdemeanor speeding to elude.
