Detectives investigating a 2015 murder in Dale City have made five arrests over the past two weeks. All of the suspects and the victim had ties to the MS-13 street gang, Prince William police spokesperson Sgt. Jonathan Perok said Thursday.
The body of 19-year-old Guillermo Hernandez Leyva was found on Sept. 29, 2015, in the 14300 block of Westminster Lane, off Minnieville Road in Dale City.
Investigators learned Hernandez Leyva had traveled to Prince William County from Maryland in July 2015. He had been beaten and stabbed in a wooded area near where his body was found, Perok said.
Warrants were issued in the murder on Aug. 8. Since then, multiple law enforcement agencies working together in several states made the arrests. The investigation is ongoing, Perok said.
Four suspects are awaiting extradition, each facing a charge of first degree murder:
- Daniel Alexander Flores Ventura, 24, was located in Indianapolis, Indiana
- Wilians Ernesto Lovos Ayala, 24, was located in Atlantic County, New Jersey
- Michael Alexander Campos Lemus, 23, was located in Essex County, New Jersey
- Vilas Sail Argueta Bermudez, 30, was located in Texas.
Carlos Ulises Ochoa Pineda, 23, was located in Montgomery County, Maryland. He has been charged with accessory to murder before the fact.
All suspects are expected in court on Dec. 15, 2017.
