A retired Army general was indicted Friday on multiple charges related to an alleged sexual assault case in Woodbridge in the ‘80s, according to Prince William County police.
James Joseph Grazioplene, 69, of 15814 Spyglass Hill Loop, faces three counts of incest and three counts of rape, police spokesperson Officer Nathan Probus said Monday.
Grazioplene is being held without bond and a court date is pending.
Beginning in August 2018, investigators began looking into reports the victim was assaulted by Grazioplene on more than one occasion between August 1987 and May 1988. The victim was a teen at the time of the offenses, Probus said.
The Washington Post reported the arrest Friday follows a decision by military prosecutors earlier this year to dismiss related charges due to the statute of limitations.
There is no statute of limitations on rape charges in Virginia, the Post noted.
