A woman was arrested for public intoxication March 8 after a witness reported seeing her carrying cats in a suitcase.

A deputy responded to the report at Mr. B’s Market and Deli, 375 Warrenton Road, around 5:34 p.m. and identified the woman as Shanna Holwager, 43, of King George. She had cats in a zipped suitcase, according to Stafford County Sheriff ’s Office spokesperson Amanda Vicinanzo.

Holwager told a deputy that she was trying to bring the bag of cats to the local SPCA, Vicinanzo said. The cats were turned over to Stafford County Animal Control.

Holwager was charged with public intoxication and held until sober.

A little more than 24 hours later, she reportedly was walking down the middle of the road waving her arms in the area of South Gateway Drive and Warrenton Road, Vicinanzo said. She was charged again and held until sober.
