If the name of Terry Mogdlin rings a vague bell, it should – he ran in 2013 for the 49th District House of Delegates seat and in 2015 for the 35th District state Senate seat under the banners of the Green Party and Independent Green Party, respectively.
Neither bid caused much of a ripple in the body politic, but Mogdlin will again be on the ballot in this year. He has qualified to run for a second time for the 49th House seat, where he will take on Democratic incumbent Alfonso Lopez.
The first time the two squared off, in 2013, Mogdlin pulled 21 percent of the vote against Lopez in the impregnably Democratic 49th.
The district includes much of Arlington on and south of the Columbia Pike corridor, as well as portions of Fairfax County west to Seven Corners.
The Independent Green Party’s main focus has been transit and transportation issues. Mogdlin will get the chance to make his case to local voters when the Arlington County Civic Federation holds its start-of-campaign-season candidates’ forum on Sept. 3.
