McLEAN COMMUNITY CENTER CLOSED FOR HOLIDAY: The McLean Community Center and Old Firehouse Teen Center will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11 in observance of Veterans Day.

VETERANS DAY REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY RETURNS TO GREAT FALLS: The annual Veterans Day Remembrance Ceremony will be held at the Great Falls Freedom Memorial on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

The event will include a U.S. Marine Corps color guard, patriotic songs by the Langley High School Madrigals and remarks by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Julie Bentz.

The Freedom Memorial is located behind the Great Falls Library at 9830 Georgetown Pike. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the library.

MCC HOSTS CHILDREN’S FLEA MARKET: The McLean Community Center will host its annual Children’s Flea Market on Saturday, Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Toys, clothes, games and other items will be sold by those who know them best – children.

McLEAN ANTIQUES SHOW RETURNS: The McLean Antiques Show & Sale will be held on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday, Nov. 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the McLean Community Center.

Now in its 40th year, the show will present dealers representing American, English and European antiques, decorative accessories, furniture, folk art, porcelain, silver, paintings, rugs and more. On-site glass-repair services will be offered.

The cost is $10, which is valid for both days of the event. Proceeds will support the James C. Macdonald Scholarship Fund.

McLEAN ANTIQUE CLUB TO MEET: The McLean Antique Club will feature a demonstration of quilt restoration and repair at its monthly meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. at the McLean Community Center.

FUND-RAISER SUPPORTS McLEAN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION: The Community Charity Champions initiative of HBC Group of Keller Williams Realty will support the McLean Community Foundation with a fund-raiser on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pulcinella Italian Host restaurant in McLean.

Those who bring a promotional flyer to the event will see approximately 70 percent of proceeds of food and drink going directly to the foundation.

“The mission [of the foundation] is to fund projects that enhance the quality of life in McLean and provide valuable community services,” said Amee Burgoyne, the foundation president. “Together, we can do more for McLean.”

CHURCH CHOIRS COME TOGETHER FOR CONCERT: St. John’s Episcopal Church will host an All Saints’ Sunday concert on Sunday, Nov. 6 during the 5:30 p.m. service.

The church choir will be joined by choristers from St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in McLean in a concert that will feature Anton Bruckner’s “Requiem.”

‘OKEE DOKEE BROTHERS’ TO PERFORM AT ALDEN: Three-time Parents’ Choice Award winners The Okee Dokee Brothers will perform on Sunday, Nov. 6 with shows at 1 and 4 p.m. at the Alden Theatre of the McLean Community Center.
