The official relics of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina will be on display this weekend at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Arlington.
St. Padre Pio was born in 1887 as Francesco Forgione in Pietrelcina, Italy. He was a friar, a priest, bore the wounds of Christ, the stigmata, and was known to have committed several miracles, according to a release from the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. He was beautified May 2, 1999, by Pope John Paul II.
This is the first U.S. tour to celebrate the 130th anniversary of Saint Padre Pio’s birth, and the 15th anniversary of his canonization.
St. Ann Catholic Church is located at 5300 North 10th Street in Arlington.
The relics will be on display from 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday and 7:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 21. At 5:30 p.m. Sunday, there will be a Mass in honor of St. Padre Pio.
