Northern Virginia is under a flash flood watch from 2 p.m. until 2 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
“Torrential rainfall may lead to totals exceeding 2 inches in a short period of time,” according to the weather alert. “This may cause flash flooding of small streams and other poor drainage urban areas.”
The potential also exists for strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging winds.
