Golfers raise funds for Young Marines

John L. Estrada, 15th sergeant major of the Marine Corps; Carlton W. Kent, 16th sergeant major of the Marine Corps; Michael P. Barrett, 17th sergeant major of the Marine Corps and board member of the Young Marines National Foundation; Alford L. McMichael, 14th sergeant major of the Marine Corps; Ronald L. Green, current sergeant major of the Marine Corps; and Harold G. Overstreet, 12th sergeant major of the Marine Corps and board member of the Young Marines.

The Young Marines, a national youth organization headquartered in Dumfries, raised $45,000 at its annual golf  tournament Sept. 24 at the Medal of Honor Golf Course at Marine Corps Base Quantico.

The sold-out event brought together 144 golfers, and the NEC team of Peter Hebert, John Shroeder, Gary Gordon and Rob Anderson won first place with a score of 55. In addition, Dave Bray performed the national anthem, and actor and producer Scott Levy signed autographs.
