A car drove into Harold and Cathy's Dumfries Cafe on Jan. 3. A Facebook video by town Mayor Derrick Wood showed severe damage to the building. No one was injured.

Harold and Cathy's Dumfries Cafe opened on Friday, Jan. 11, a little more than a week since closing for repairs after a car drove into the popular restaurant Jan. 3.

No one was injured, but the small brick building on Fraley Boulevard sustained serious damage.

The restaurant resumed normal hours on Friday, said Kayla Julian, assistant manager. The Town of Dumfries issued the restaurant a temporary occupancy permit on Thursday, allowing them to open Friday, she said.

“We pushed really hard,” she said. “It’s our families’ livelihood so we had to be persistent on it.”

Julian thanked the Town of Dumfries and their landlord, Eddie Folks.
