Hobby Lobby is expected to open its new Gainesville location in late January, according to a release from the retailer.
The popular arts, crafts and home decor business has started renovations at the former Sports Authority at 5085 Wellington Road at Virginia Gateway.
The 42,000-square-foot store will be Hobby Lobby’s 11th location in the state. A Woodbridge location opened last year at the former Shoppers grocery store off Prince William Parkway.
The Gainesville store is expected to bring up to 50 jobs to the area.
“The success of our stores in Virginia is a good indicator that Gainesville shoppers will be pleased with the quality, selection and value we offer in the craft and home decor market,” said Kelly Black, Director of Advertising.
Hobby Lobby stores offer more than 70,000 crafting and home decor products including floral, fabric, needle art, custom framing, baskets, home accents, wearable art, arts and crafts, jewelry making, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies, according to the release.
Store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
