The 27th annual Manassas African-American Heritage Festival took over the grounds of Grace E. Metz Middle School on Aug. 5.

More than 100 vendors hosted some 5,000 visitors, said organizer Danielle Miles, with everything from free school supplies to entertainment by bands and choirs.

Along with clothing, soap and jewelry vendors, catering firms and other organizations dished up dinner fare and quick snacks. The church displays were joined by several fraternity and sorority groups seeking members.

Automobile enthusiasts also got a chance to see Chevy Corvettes from several years.
