A Triangle man won $1 million in a recent Mega Millions drawing.
Anthony Wesley purchased the ticket in the April 16 drawing at the Shoppers off Dumfries Road, according to Virginia Lottery officials.
His wife returned home from shopping and said, “Hey, someone won a million dollars at Shoppers. Was it you?”
He half-joking replied, “It probably was.”
It turned out Wesley’s ticket, with numbers randomly selected by the computer, matched the first five numbers, missing only the Mega Ball number.
The odds of matching the first five numbers in Mega Millions are 1 in 12,607,306.
Wesley said he plans to invest his winnings for his children, and he intends to win again.
“I’m not done yet!” he said.
Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m.
Prince William County received more than $51.3 million in lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year.
