Manassas National Battlefield Park

Volunteers are needed to team up with the American Battlefield Trust to aid in cleaning 25 Old Dominion battlefields and historic sites during Park Day, Saturday, April 6, according to a news release.

Activities are chiefly outdoors and range from raking leaves and collecting trash to painting and gardening.

Volunteers will receive T-shirts, and some sites will provide lunch or refreshments. A local historian may be on hand to talk about the history of the site.

Volunteers interested in participating should contact the sites.

Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park, Bristow, 9 a.m.

Volunteers will help with building or repairing fences, clearing brush, planting, trail maintenance, trash removal and cleaning interpretive markers. A tour of the battlefield park will be available at the end of the day. Water and snacks will be provided.

Cannon Branch Fort and Park, Manassas, 9 a.m.

Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, Spotsylvania, 9 a.m.

Volunteers will help with building or repairing fences, clearing brush, installing markers/interpretive signs, landscaping, painting, trail maintenance, trash removal and gardening. Ellwood will be open with interpreters offering tours of the building after Park Day activities. Refreshments will be provided.
