Ann Carey

Ann Carey passed away late Sunday evening, May 12th, 2019 at Sentara Medical Center. Ann was born in Young County, Texas, and grew up in Hobbs, NM, where she was a proud member of the Hobbs High School marching band. After high school, she studied nursing and became a Registered Nurse. Ann was married to Don Carey and lived in Woodbridge for 58 years. Ann is survived by a son, Dee, and four daughters, Terri, Donna, Judy and Trish; six grandchildren: Amy, Becky, Rob, Sara, Eric, and Max; and two great-grandchildren: Castor and Helen.

Ann was extremely proud of her husband and three brothers who preceded her in death. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening, sewing, needlework, attending church services, square-dancing, watching TV westerns, and laughing with her friends and neighbors (especially Rose and Joe Woods). Ann volunteered in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization at Occoquan Elementary School. She and her family very much appreciated the excellent and thoughtful medical care she received in Woodbridge, especially by Dr. Richard Robinson and Dr. Atul Kapadia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at St. Paul, United Methodist Church, 1400 G Street, Woodbridge, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16th with a reception to follow. Ann was a member of St. Paul UMC for 58 years, where she and Don were married and had many dear friends. Donations welcomed for the American Lung Association.
