Mary H. Revercomb

Mary H. Revercomb, 94, of Peola Mills, Virginia, and a former resident of Arlington, Virginia, died of complications at University of Virginia Culpeper Hospital on February 27, 2019.

Mrs. Revercomb was born in Saline County Missouri, and graduated from Missouri Valley College with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.  In 1955, she received a Master’s Degree in English and Education from George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

She came to Virginia to teach where she met her husband, L. Nelson Revercomb.  They established a residence in Arlington where they lived for forty years.  In 1991, they retired to Rappahannock County, Virginia, Mr. Revercomb’s birthplace and boyhood home.

During her career as a public and parochial educator, she enriched the minds of her students and developed relationships and friendships that endured until the day of her passing.

Mrs. Revercomb was a former regent of the Thomas Lee Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, having joined that organization in 1949.  She was a former President and member of the Iota Chapter Alpha Delta Kappa International Women Educator’s Sorority.  She was a former officer and member of the Neighborhood Garden Club in Arlington and the Rappahannock County Garden Club.  She was an avid gardener.

She is predeceased by her husband and survived by her son, Randall H. Revercomb, her daughter, Mary Virginia Revercomb Del Pozzo and husband Dominic, grandsons Nicolas and Lucas Del Pozzo of Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Services will be held March 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at F.T. Baptist Church, 3143 Slate Mills Road, Sperryville, Virginia 22740.  The burial will follow at the Revercomb family cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors, any veterans’ support organization, or College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, MO.
