The Arlington Senior Babe Ruth 13-under All-Stars finished 3-0 to win the recent District 6 baseball tournament.
Arlington now advances to the nine-team, double-elimination state tourney, beginning July 11 in New Kent with a first-round game against Augusta County.
In the three-team district competition, Arlington routed Vienna, 12-1, in the championship game at Waters Field in Vienna. The win was Arlington’s second over Vienna. It defeated Springfield in its other game.
“It was a complete team effort,” Arlington manager Mike Cowell said. “All of the players contributed.”
In the tourney, Arlington amassed 37 hits and only committed four errors.
In the championship game. Javier Murray threw a game no-hitter. He struck out seven and walked two.
With the bat, Elijah Hughes was 3 for 4 at with two RBI.
Overall in the tournament, Hughes was 8 for 11 with five triples and nine RBI. Other team members are Simon Rubenstein, Easton Belongia, Thad Gabel, Bradley Labant, Andy McEnerny, Kyle Black, Ben Rosini, Isaac Hobbs and Abraham Tay.
