The track and field district championships were held all over Loudoun County last week, and four teams took home at least a share of a title.
The 2013 all-district lacrosse teams for the Dulles, Cedar Run and Liberty districts were announced Friday, with Loudoun County’s Sean Rogers and Michael Rexrode, Woodgrove girls’ senior goalie Bailey Carver and Stone Bridge senior attacker Dylan Maltz taking home the big prizes.

While four Loudoun teams shone just about equally bright in tennis, there was one team that stood out among the rest last year in track and field: the Loudoun County High School boys.
In 2012, four Loudoun high school tennis teams—the Loudoun County boys, Freedom boys, Woodgrove girls and Broad Run girls—enjoyed undefeated runs through the regular season and district tournaments before three of them, Loudoun County, Woodgrove and Broad Run, fell in regional play.
The Woodgrove girls, like their male counterparts, again will be formidable for other teams countywide to deal with, after rolling through the Dulles District and the AA Northern Section last year.
The Briar Woods High School boys lacrosse team hasn’t lost a regular season game in the Dulles District since 2010, but this year is a whole new ballgame for them and all of their district rivals.
The second part of Woodgrove High School’s spring dominance in the school’s second year was the girls soccer team, which went undefeated en route to the school’s first-ever state championship in soccer.
