Liberty senior linebacker Nick Newman (Battlefield) was named to the all-Big South first team after being a second-team selection in 2014 and 2015. He was the Flames’ third-leading tackler this season.

He had a season-high 12 tackles against SMU along with an interception. He averaged 5.2 tackles per game in his career and totaled 236 tackles in 45 games, making him Liberty’s active career tackles leader.

Cedrick Delaney (Osbourn) and Michael Farry (Forest Park) earned spots on the Old Dominion Athletic Conference football team.

A senior running back at Shenandoah University, Delaney was a first-team pick for the third straight season. Delaney finished his career as the Hornets’ all-time leader in game, season and career rushing yards as well as total touchdowns. This season, Delaney recorded 858 yards and 10 touchdowns on 140 carries.

Delaney also finished second in all-time catches with 111.

A senior linebacker, Farry was a second-team pick after leading Randolph-Macon with 76 tackles, including 50 solo stops. He also had 8.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 quarterback sacks and four pass breakups.
