Battlefield High School graduate Jake Agnos was named a first-team NCAA Division I all-American Thursday by Collegiate Baseball.
The East Carolina junior left-hander was one of 17 players selected to the first team, joining his teammate Alec Burleson.Â
Chosen as the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year, Agnos has been dominant this season as the Pirates No. 1 starter.
He’s won his last six straight decisions and is 10-2 with 131 strikeouts, 38 walks and a 2.00 ERA in 90 innings. He set school and conference records for single-season strikeouts. Agnos will start again this weekend at the double-elimination NCAA Greenville Regional hosted by top-seeded ECU.
Agnos is ranked among the top 150 draft prospects by Baseball America and MLB.com. He is a projected top five-round selection when the draft is held June 3-5.
