Falling leaves may be the first sign of fall. The second is a fresh season of corn maze fun and fall festivals at several farms across Northern Virginia.
Here's a look at several events. Dates, hours and admission vary, and most of these sites have more attractions than we've been able to list here.
The Corn Maze in The Plains. 4501 Old Tavern Road in The Plains. Opens Sept. 23-24. Five-acre, 2.5-mile “Pirates of the Corn-ibbean” maze features a pirate flag, parrot and a treasure chest. Belvedere Plantation Harvest Festival. 1410 Belvedere Drive in Fredericksburg. Opens Sept. 30. Curious George maize maze. Pumpkin patch, ziplines, straw jump, trike track, pumpkin mountain slide, spider web, little pedal carts, extreme pedal carts, jumping pillow, barrel train, pony rides, flower cutting, Olde Barnyard, The Fun Barn, Swine Speedway, Little Farmers Corral, farm wagon rides, campfires. Great Country Farms Fall Pumpkin Harvest Festival. 18780 Foggy Bottom Road, Bluemont. Opens Oct. 1. Virginia is for Lovers Corn Maze. Ticonderoga Farm Fall Festival. 26469 Ticonderoga Road, Chantilly. Opens Sept. 23. Nurseries across the region will also be hosting events this fall, including Lake Ridge Nursery at 3705 Old Bridge Road. The nursery is hosting its pumpkin patch for the 27th year. The event from Sept. 22 to Oct. 31 includes Moon bounces, obstacle courses, rope swing, zip line, Gen Manning, Friendly Fire (nerf guns), jungle gyms, bowling with pumpkins and more. See more info.
